Concrete Duo | Simple By Lacey | Woodworking Craftsman | Minimalism

Updated: Feb 2, 2020

Our new custom table set, a matching rustic but modern duo. This pair is a perfect set for any home, with its minimalistic and elegant style. The concrete tops are sturdy, reliable, and sleek. Keeping the color scheme neutral and adding a splash of a english chestnut stain to the shelf, bar stools and ledge allows the pattern of the wood to glisten against the white backdrop. We created this color scheme and style to be able to use this set, indoors and outdoors, for years to come.

We created the Console Table out of our own creativity. The blog posting for the Console Table is here: https://www.simplebylacey.com/blog/concrete-reclaimedwood.

Richard really allowed his creativity to flow and at the same time not overthink the design. The simplicity of the color scheme and the overall design is the most important to us to let people be able to easily see it fit into their homes and be able to use it in multiple ways. Our customer fell in love with our Console Table immediately and is currently using it as a wine and whiskey holder. Conveniently the concrete even matches his gray paint on his moldings. Before he took it home he ordered a custom matching Bar Table.

The Bar Table is made out of reclaimed pine wood, pallet wood, and concrete top that we set ourselves. The concrete top has to be poured and set first since it takes about a month to fully set and dry. The frame was assembled in the following weeks as the concrete dried.

We never want to sand too much for we will lose all the rustic charm this wood naturally has. While creating we spend a lot of our time ensuring we keep as much charm as possible while making it a sturdy and well crafted product. The photo above shows the framing when it was first put together. We used pocket holes to be able to hide the screws, which we filled with dowels. After filling all the pocket holes in and giving a last sand over them for a smooth touch, the only steps left for the frame itself were the staining and painting.

Lastly we attached the concrete top with brackets and concrete graded screws. Anchoring them in to the concrete for security and strength, the top was set and screwed in four places. Using our Cricut Maker, we are able to print out our logo and paint it onto our products. We decided to paint our logo black to have a nice contrast to the white.
